Tiedematinea on Suomalaisen Tiedeakatemian jäsenille suunnattu keskustelutilaisuuksien sarja. Kevään ensimmäinen Tiedematinea järjestetään torstaina 10.4. klo 15 alkaen Tiedeakatemian tiloissa Helsingissä (Mariankatu 5A, 2. krs.).Tilaisuus on englanninkielinen.
Huhtikuisessa Tiedematineassa tarkastellaan tutkimuksen ja korkeamman koulutuksen eurooppalaistumista monitieteisestä näkökulmasta, esimerkiksi ”eurooppalaisen tieteen” merkityksiä eri aikoina sekä yksilöllisen tutkimusyhteistyön ja instituutionaalisten strategioiden välisiä suhteita. Miten eurooppalainen tiedepolitiikka muokkaa tutkimuksen ja yliopistojen toimintaympäristöä? Millaisia mahdollisuuksia ja haasteita eurooppalainen yhteistyö tuo tutkijoille ja oppilaitoksille?
Keskustelemassa ovat Academia Europaean entinen presidentti, professori Marja Makarow ja École normale supérieuren historian professori Stéphane Van Damme.
Marja Makarow is Professor Emerita of Applied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Helsinki. Her research has significantly advanced the understanding of molecular mechanisms guiding protein folding and transport within eukaryotic cells. Beyond her academic contributions, Professor Makarow has held prominent leadership roles, including Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Helsinki, Chief Executive of the European Science Foundation, and Vice-President of the Academy of Finland. She has contributed to strategies and funding of research and innovation in the European Research Area Board, the European Research and Innovation Councils, and the Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
Stéphane Van Damme is a professor in the history department of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris). His research focuses on modern science and European culture from the 16th to the 19th century, examining the founding fathers (Bacon, Descartes, Linnaeus), scientific disciplines (philosophy, botany, chemistry, archaeology), scientific academies and capitals, and imperial projects. In 2020 he published Seconde Nature. Rematérialiser les sciences entre Bacon et Tocqueville, and in 2023 book on science and scepticism.
