New members 2023
The scientists elected to membership of the Academy are distinguished academics. Membership of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, in common with membership of any other academy of science, is looked on as a considerable achievement in a person’s academic career.
This year, 29 new members were elected.
Academic Eva-Mari Aro selected as a Fellow of the Royal Society
Eva-Mari Aro, Professor of Molecular Plant Biology, has been invited to become a Fellow of Royal Society in recognition of her substantial contributions to photosynthesis research.
Professor Lea Pulkkinen Receives the Academy Award of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters for 2023
The 2023 Academy Award of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters was awarded at the Science Gala on 28 April 2023. The award was granted to Lea Pulkkinen, a professor of psychology.

Artificial Intelligence, February 13 2023
The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters and Young Academy Finland organized an AI-themed evening in Helsinki on Monday, February 13.
The subject was introduced and discussed by Assistant Professor Riikka Koulu (University of Helsinki), Professor Petri Myllymäki (University of Helsinki), and Assistant Professor Arno Solin (Aalto University).
