Facilities of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters

Members have the opportunity to book the facilities at Mariankatu 5, owned by the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, for their own use. Space can be used for small-scale meetings and gatherings. Members can also come to the facilities to work temporarily, take a break, or read.

Ties, Scarf, and Lapel Pin

The Academy’s silver lapel pin (25 €) is available at the Academy’s office. Additionally, ties (25 €; blue and red) and scarves (30 €), designed to commemorate the Academy’s centennial year in 2008, are also available.

The ties, scarves, and lapel pins are intended exclusively for members of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.

Member Events

We regularly organize events at our premises, which are open exclusively to out members.

Science Matinee is a series of discussion sessions intended for members of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, focusing on a current, interdisciplinary scientific question each time. Information about upcoming Science Matinees is provided in newsletters and on our website.

Throughout the year, the Academy organizes Evening for Science (Ilta tieteelle) events in Helsinki, which are open to the public. Before each event, there is a pre-event gathering (“etkot”) that is open only to our members. Detailed information about these events is provided in our newsletters and on our website.

Yearbook

All members receive an annual printed copy of the Yearbook of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. The Academy has been publishing the Yearbook since 1977. The publication is also freely available on our website.
