Science Academies in Finland

On March 1, 2022, Finnish science academies took a public stand for peace and against war by signing a declaration.

“We, the signatory academies of sciences and technology, condemn the war in Ukraine and support all efforts in advancing peace. The war not only threatens human lives and well-being but also the foundations of civil society, including prerequisites for scientific work. As representatives of the scientific community we appeal to all parties for finding way to restore peace. Our joint efforts have to be channelled towards ensuring peaceful and sustainable coexistence.

The International Scientific Community

The international scientific community has reacted with a shock and deep regret to the military attacks of the Russian Government against Ukraine. Here you can find resources about international actions taken.

Grants and scholarships for Ukrainian researchers and students in Finland

Finnish institutions have quickly organized various ways to help students and researchers affected by the crisis in Ukraine. This is a updating list of these resources.

The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters has made a 10 000 euro donation to Finnish Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
