On 28 September, Russia carried out a drone attack on Kyiv. The attack struck several sites, including the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), killing at least two people and injuring several others.
The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters strongly condemns the attack and stands in solidarity with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, its staff and researchers. We endorse the statement issued by ALLEA, the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities.
ALLEA points out that this attack is one of many directed at scientific and cultural sites in Ukraine. These attacks form part of Russia’s deliberate effort to destroy the foundations of free research, knowledge and democracy.
