The Night of Science is a block party for science and research. It is celebrated annually in Helsinki. The next event takes place on Thursday the 9th of January 2025. The program is made by many different organizations and actors and the multiple events offer science and research in many different forms. All events are free of charge!
The magic of the Northern Lights

Join us for a deep dive into the world of the Northern Lights and the mysteries of space weather! Minna Palmroth, professor of computational space physics at the University of Helsinki, will reveal what the space weather looks like, and the Northern Lights can tell us about the current state of space.
The event concludes with the documentary Fire in the Sky (2019) which explores how this northern phenomenon affects both technology and animal behavior. Documentary is YLE-ARTE co-production. It has been sold to over 30 countries world-wide. The documentary is written and directed by Simo Sipola.
The capacity of the event venue is 100 people. The even venue is accessible.
