The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters Humanities Award 2021 goes to Assistant Professor Kaius Sinnemäki
The 2021 Humanities Prize of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters has been awarded to Assistant Professor Kaius Sinnemäki. The prize is awarded annually to an outstanding researcher in the humanities at an early stage in his or her career, who’s already achieved international recognition. The prize is worth 15,000 euros and was distributed in 2021 for the 10th time.

The Theme Night of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters on Monday 13 September 2021 celebrated the arrival of new members in the Academy. Watch the recording! The event was bilingual: both Finnish and English were used. The event was broadcasted live from the Academy’s n Mariankatu premises in Helsinki.

Maupertuis Program: Call for proposals open
Finnish Academy of Science and Letters is participating in a seed funding program to initiate and strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, innovation and higher education in fields of excellence in Finland and France. Call for proposals is now open! Deadline for submission is 31 October 2021.

Finnish Academy of Science and Letters takes part in a science diplomacy report
The importance of science diplomacy, i.e. activities that combine science and foreign relations, has become ever more important in the field of international relations. According to a report prepared jointly by Finnish Academy of Science and Letters and Frisky & Anjoy, the coordination of science diplomacy and the dialogue between significant actors in the field of science diplomacy should be strengthened. Science diplomacy promotes international cooperation and solutions to wicked problems that humanity is facing.

Application procesess for grants open until 31 May 2021
Application processes of the Eino Jutikkala Fund and the Emil Öhmann Foundation are open from 23 April to 31 May 2021. The Öhmann Foundation announces that the Institute grant is also open for applications.
