The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters is participating in the centenary celebration of Finland by organising the Year of Science 2017 (Tieteen vuosi 2017) seminar series. The seminars publicize Finnish science throughout the country’s 100-year history, to the current day and into the future with top Finnish scientists.
The series opens at the Science Forum 2017 and continues with monthly seminars. The history of Finnish science is filled with great stories, only some of which are widely known; Finnish scientists deserve to be heard.
The themed nights of the Year of Science 2017 are open to everyone; the events are free.
Finland became an independent country on 6 December 1917. The theme of Finland’s centenary year is Togetherness. The celebration of Finland’s independence in 2017 takes a wide-ranging and versatile form.
The event calendar of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters is also available on the Events page.
