World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC) has awarded its International Award for Research 2019 to member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, Professor Kirsi Tirri.

Member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, Professor Olli Ikkala has received the Humboldt Research Award. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants these awards to internationally renowned academics in recognition of their entire academic record to date.

Accademia Nationale dei Lincei has granted the international Antonio Feltrinelli Prize to Academy Professor Kari Alitalo. The prize, 250.000 euros, was awarded in acknowledgment of Alitalo’s pioneering work on cancer research.

Academy Research Fellow Kaisa Matomäki from the University of Turku receives the New Horizons in Mathematics Prize for fundamental breakthroughs in the understanding of local correlations of values of multiplicative functions.

Member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, Academician Markku Kulmala received the award at Chinese Government Friendship Award Ceremony in Beijing in September.

Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) has awarded their 2018 Distinguished Service Award to Professor Atte Moilanen. He has been a member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters since 2017.
