Sofi – Science Advice Inititiave of Finland (2019–2021) was a national-level initiative focusing on building next generation scientific advisory system in Finland. It was a joint venture of the four Finnish science academies (The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, the Finnish Society of Science and Letters, the Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences and the Swedish Academy of Engineering Science in Finland). Sofi was funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Sofi achieved its main objective to develop a new permanent science-policy platform. Sofi’s work continues from 2022 onwards at The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.
Sofi aimed at promoting dialogue between researchers and decision-makers and, among others, it developed two operating models: scientific red teams (interactive and iterative science advice dialogues for complex policy issues) and phenomenon map.
